Kok, Homer Earn Academic Honors
RICHARDSON, TEXAS --- Northeastern State's Joe Kok and Jared Homer were among 11 players named to the LSC All-Academic North Division Team announced Thursday, which recognizes both academic and athletic achievement.
Kok, the leading punter in the Lone Star Conference with a 42.3 average, is a senior Mathematics Education major from Broken Arrow.
Homer, also a four-year starter, is majoring in Elementary Education. The Mustang senior led the RiverHawks in scoring with 53 points this year. He made 10-of-13 field goals and was perfect on 23 PATs.
The All-Academic Teams are voted upon by the league's sports information directors. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes need at least a 3.30 GPA and must be at least a sophomore. All qualifying student-athletes not voted to the All-Academic Team are then placed on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
A total of 50 players were honored for their academic achievements, and all 13 of the LSC's football teams were represented.
Named to the Commissioner's Honor roll from Northeastern were sophomores Beau Beathard, and Colton Ables and senior McCoy Campbell.
