All-Conference Grid Squad Announced


RICHARDSON, Texas --- The Lone Star Conference North Division All-Conference team was announced  Thursday and Northeastern State placed 12 on the first and second teams with with offensive lineman Mike Yoder named the Freshman of the Year.

Yoder is a 6-5, 280-pound freshman from Kingwood, Texas, where he was a two-year starter, while earning all-district honors.

A total of 78 student-athletes were recognized by the LSC's post-season awards program, with 31 players named to the first team, 29 on the second team and 18 earning honorable mention. The all-conference honors were selected by the head coaches for the six North Division teams.

Selected to the first team for the RiverHawks was fullback John Stelly, freshman from Hardin, Texas. Stelly, who was used primarly as a blocking back, rushed for 48 yards on four carries, an average of 12.0 yards per carry. Stelly also caught five passes for 48 yards, 9.6 yards per catch.

Defensive first team selections were defensive tackle T.J. Raymond, 6-3, 315-pound senior from Grand Prairie, Texas; and punter Joe Kok, 6-2, 220-pound senior from Broken Arrow.

Raymond logged 54 tackles this season, 18 unassisted and 36 solos. Kok, the leading punter in the LSC, averaged 42.3 yards on 71 punts. He had 23 punts inside the 20-yard line and 13 punts of 50-yards or more. He did not have a punt blocked.

Second team offensive selections were wide receiver Trey McVey, 5-9, 180-pound sophomore from Muskogee; Ben Randle, 6-4, 200-pound junior wide receiver  from Plano, Texas; Michael Yoder,  6-5, 280-pound offensive lineman from Kingwood, Texas; and Jared Homer, 6-0, 205-pound senior from Mustang, Okla.

Selected to the second team defense were Billy Blackard, 6-3, 290-pound defensive tackle from Claremore, Okla.; LaQuanatum McDonald, 6-4, 240-pound sophomore defensive end from Waco, Texas; Terrance Gaston, 6-4, 230-pound senior linebacker from Fort Gibson, Okla.; Donald Dangerfield, 5-11, 180-pound sophomore linebacker from  Hugo and Nick Dobler, 6-0, 190-pound junior safety from  Topeka, Kan.

Honorable mention selections were Colton Ables, 6-3, 335-pound sophomore offensive tackle from Mesquite, Texas; Logan Cawyer, 6-4, 255-pound junior tight end from Miami, Okla.; and Jon Evans, 6-2, 215-pound junior linebacker from  Chandler, Okla.
