Waffle was a standout player on both sides of the ball for the Pirates and head coach Jason Landrum.   He earned Daily Oklahoman Honorable Mention All-State honors as a sophomore and junior while leading the team in tackles.  As a senior, Waffle was selected the 4A-2 Running Back of the Year, rushing for 1,112 yards and 10 touchdowns.
