RiverHawks Sweep Angelo State
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Northeastern State swept a doubleheader from Angelo State 4-2 and 10-4 in Lone Star Conference play Sunday afternoon at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks winners of 3-of-4 in the weekend series is now 8-9 overall and 7-5 in conference play. Angelo State falls to 10-9 and 5-7.
In the opener the RiverHawks' Angel Hernanedez went 2-for-3 at the plate including a solo-run homer I the sixth inning. Noah Ringenberger also went 2-for-3 at the plate including an RBI double to right field.
Josh Walker pitched six innings to get the win, his first of the season, scattering 7 hits, striking out four and walking two. Adam Hibdon pitched the seventh for a save.
In the nightcap Eric McKinney provided the firepower at the plate going 2-for-5 with four RBIs, which included a 3-run homer in the seventh and a solo homer in the seventh.
Chris Gallegos went 2-for-3 including a 2-run homer over the left field wall in the second inning.Demetrius Terronez plated two RiverHawk runs in the fourth.
Shay Colburn picked up his first win of the season going six innings, scattering 9 hits, striking out 3 and walking three, before getting relief help from Jason Travis, John Dean and Adam Hibdon.
